Supporting narrative change: Our work in Bangladesh

Big Blue’s history started right here in Bangladesh in 2012.

Great things happen here. Governments, scientists, and businesses from other countries have so much to learn from this place.

There are exciting investments in business. There are amazing advancements in public health and agriculture. Perhaps they do not get international attention because Bangladesh has been painted with this brush of disaster since its birth in 1971.

But that is old news. Decades ago, journalists and communicators told the world about famine and hurricanes. Those stories served their mission. But narratives for this country need to be talked about today.

Today is exciting. Education is improving. Women’s opportunities are improving. Of course, there are risks. Bangladesh will be deeply affected by climate change. Its people need greater freedom of expression.

So, there are choices for communicators. Do we weigh down Bangladesh today with the problems of yesterday? Or do we update narratives and add depth and detail?

2012, the year that our team started, feels like a lifetime ago. But we have always retained our mission to communicate the work of people who are changing the world.

These days, we work with organizations in the longer term, over the years. For us, what’s changing is our desire for scale. We have assembled this team of amazing people who can create meaningful change for the narrative of Bangladesh.

We want to work with the most exciting scientific, academic, and business minds. We want to play a role in changing the way that the world, and maybe even people within Bangladesh, see this place.

This message is an invitation. It is very much for those people doing great things in science, technology, business, or government, and who have something important to say to the rest of the world. We are here to support, to collaborate, and to play a role in updating narratives.
