Big results

Big Blue produced a 3-minute video exploring the importance of Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) for Howell Marine Consulting and the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM). Through the voices of key stakeholders in Barbados, Belize, Jamaica, and Panama, the video highlights how MSP supports decision-making, reduces conflict, and ensures sustainable ocean management in the Caribbean.

Story

The Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) sought to promote a regional Guide and Protocol for Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) to help member states organise their marine space. This video project was commissioned by Howell Marine Consulting to support these efforts by translating regional guidelines into accessible insights, demonstrating to governments and the public how MSP rationalises ocean use and fosters equity.

Approach

Big Blue adopted a testimonial and informative tone for the video, focusing on the perspectives of fisheries authorities, marine scientists, and government officials. The creative direction involved combining these personal testimonies with archival b-roll and footage of ocean life to visually establish the importance of the marine environment. The narrative was structured to emphasise the urgent need for a coherent, collaborative regional approach to secure a sustainable ocean future.

Results

Big Blue delivered the final 3.5-minute video to Howell Marine Consulting featuring testimonies from six key stakeholders across Barbados, Belize, Jamaica, and Panama. The film is now used to translate regional Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) guidelines into accessible insights for national governments and the public, helping rationalise ocean use and resolve conflicts. It serves as a call to action for building capacity and establishing protocols for a sustainable and collaborative ocean future.
