We gathered video footage, interviews, and portraits of laborers in Bangladesh for Cornell University’s GLI Climate-Labor Project team.

Story

The Global Labor Institute’s Climate-Labor project team at Cornell University tasked Big Blue with evaluating how extreme heat, flooding, poor air quality, and rising costs impact workers in factories and their homes.

The instructions were to capture shots of workers in their respective factories or homes, as well as shots of them giving tours of these spaces. Additionally, five to six interviews with workers were requested, along with photographic stills of the workers.

Approach

Big Blue’s team visited various locations around the outskirts of Dhaka and conducted interviews and gathered footage of the consenting workers in those locations. During the interviews, participants were asked some important questions about their workplace and living conditions. They were also asked how they cope with climate-related issues such as flooding, high levels of heat and diseases that may arise from living in such conditions.

Results

Big Blue’s team successfully delivered the portraits, B-rolls and interviews with the laborers to the team at Cornell University which will no doubt help them with their research.
