Through Kaizen Company’s the Partnerships Incubator, we are supporting the USAID Bureau for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GenDev for short) to promote some of their biggest impacts in 2024.
Deliberate action is required from all of us to advance gender equality. USAID is committed to being a leading investor, partner, and advocate to achieve this goal across societies. The updated operational and programmatic framework enables USAID to more effectively advance gender equality and women’s empowerment across all programming and to meet the Administrator’s goal to double USAID’s gender work.
GenDev required the development of several videos and design products in 2024.
As a communications partner on a +2-year call-down framework with the USAID-funded Partnerships Incubator, Big Blue provides professional design, filmmaking, strategic advisory, content writing and 508 compliance services. Their client, GenDev, required expertise to produce 3 videos: 2 desk-based animations, and a video documentary. The documentary revolved around a beneficiary in South Africa who used seed funding and skills training from GenDev and associated partners to develop a daycare centre.
We first identified the core themes and concepts to include for each video with GenDev. We sourced a South Africa-based videographer partner. We developed scripts and an art direction for the videos. We observed USAID branding guidelines in the development of our visuals. We then edited the footage, and produced motion graphics and animation, and custom sound design.
GenDev is using the video resources from Big Blue to advocate for new funding and buy-in from an audience which includes ‘the Hill’ (an informal term for those at Capitol Hill, i.e. House of Representatives and the Senate), and the White House.
