Youth life skills with Oxfam-Novib

Training tomorrow's leaders for active citizenship

Client: Oxfam-Novib

Big result

We built an online learning experience that prepares tomorrow’s leaders for active citizenship.

Story

Oxfam-Novib’s 5-year Empower Youth for Work project seeks to improve the economic and social empowerment of young women and men living in rural climate-change affected areas.

They provided face-to-face training to 57,000 Bangladeshi citizens then funded a freely accessible online course to sustain the programme’s impact.

Big Blue supported EYW to convert the existing soft skills training into an online e-learning format.

Approach

We converted hours of face-to-face training into an online course. We translated technical training manual content into accessible, online content. We developed activities and assessments to test users’ understanding of training materials. We produced all of the artwork. We advised Oxfam on good practices for course development, including use of software and creation of a free-access website.

Results

The final result is a user-friendly, interactive online course. We recommended development of the course in English on a free-access website so that anyone, anywhere can access the course. The course was made accessible for community members, government, policy makers, and the private sector.
