Big results

Big Blue crafted the website for the WEESMS programme in 2019.

Story

The WEESMS programme, funded by the Embassy of Sweden and implemented by iDE and The Asia Foundation, is creating new economic opportunities for women in rural and peri-urban areas of Bangladesh. ¶

The 5-year $7.5 million programme supports female entrepreneurs and employees with growth-oriented business development services. The programme uses a market systems development (MSD) approach to support 500 women-owned small businesses and thousands of women employees working in the jute diversified products, home textiles, and processed and packaged food sectors. WEESMS aims to create market-led opportunities for women to find safe and secure work, and to start and grow businesses.

Approach

We embarked on a journey to WEESMS intervention areas, driven by the desire to capture the untold stories, gather vital information for our tactical reports, and immortalize the essence of WEESMS through a captivating series of photographs. We crafted insightful reports and compelling case studies, breathing life into the website with our unique illustrations, ensuring that every pixel captured the spirit of WEESMS.

Results

The WEESMS website provides an useful overview of the different sectors supported by the programme, impact reports, and updates of WEESMS in the media. ¶

The programme closed in 2021, the website is a useful tool for the WEESMS team to disseminate lessons learnt from the programme, and of successful intervention areas. This will inform future development interventions, and promote policies supporting small and medium businesses.
