Story
One of the world’s biggest challenges is the marginalisation of women and girls.
The University of Portsmouth conducts research into areas such as gender-based violence and cultural practices that harm women and girls.
Big Blue worked with the university to imagine an online platform for vital gender research.
Together, we analysed other universities’ research communications existing practices.
We then co-developed a digital strategy and action plan.
We also envisioned ways for the University to foster relationships among other gender research practitioners.
Approach
First, we planned the platform’s purpose and identity. This included a website, regular digital content, and active online channels.
We support a growing online community. Online discussions have covered topics such as women’s movements in Myanmar, and the role of animation in science communication.
We now help the University to grow an international community. Together, they share research and identify opportunities for research collaborations.
Results
Gender Focus is live. Digital content is regularly published. The University uses the platform to communicate latest gender research. Gender Focus is now a growing platform used to identify new research partnerships and collaborations.
