Big Blue delivered a design for GIZ Kenya’s feasibility study report on Blue Carbon and Fishery Potential in Kwale and Lamu County, with an emphasis on the report’s readability and visual impact.

Story

GIZ Kenya commissioned Big Blue to design a feasibility study case report that would analyse the potential for blue carbon and fishery development in Kwale and Lamu County. The project required a sophisticated blend of visual elements and data presentation to effectively convey the study’s findings to its stakeholders.

Approach

The Big Blue design team designed a new template provided by GIZ for this report, incorporating modifications to the cover, back page, and main title font colours. Full-page images for chapter titles were creatively reimagined using high-quality photographs from a designated Google Drive folder, arranged in a specified reverse order to add visual interest and thematic continuity. The design palette included a combination of GIZ’s signature blue, a lighter version of GIZ red, light olive green for additional elements, and black for text, ensuring consistency with GIZ’s branding guidelines. All graphical elements such as tables, boxes, and in-text pictures were integrated using this colour scheme, and high-resolution logos were updated, maintaining brand consistency across the publication.

Results

The final report was visually striking and functionally organised, facilitating an easy comprehension of complex environmental data and analyses. This project further established Big Blue as a key partner in delivering high-quality environmental and policy-related reports.
